ORGANIZING AND HOSTING INSTITUTION

Surrounded by the Deccan Traps, is hosting the Deccan-next conclave. More than three generations of faculty and students of the campus appreciated the Deccan volcanism through various academic and research endeavours, including research papers, theses and projects producing information on volcanism, sedimentation, stratigraphy, palaeomagnetism, mantle composition, hydrogeology and geodynamic conditions. With this endeavour and the excellent connectivity and accessibility of this modern and cultural city of Pune, the Department of Geology, Savitribai Phule Pune University, welcomes the participants.

BOREHOLE GEOPHYSICS RESEARCH LABORATORY (BGRL)

BGRL, established by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India at Karad, is engaged in scientific deep drilling, borehole geophysics and associated geological investigations dedicated to earthquake research. BGRL also houses a state-of-the-art core repository with a unique collection of Deccan basalt and granitic basement samples, which participants can visit during the field trip.
